Filler pieces, closures, repair sections and modifications for an existing tank panel system — any make, any width, one-offs welcome. Send the dimension, the operating temperature and a photo of the opening; we match the cladding finish and the insulation and build the piece. Built in Edmonton, shipped across Canada.
A tank panel system is only as weather-tight as its weakest closure. When a system is damaged, modified, or simply left short at a manway, nozzle or transition, the fix is a panel cut to the exact dimension that remains — not a standard module trimmed on site. We build those custom panels and filler pieces in Edmonton, to the width you need, with the finish and insulation that match the rest of the tank.
Key Facts
- Any width: filler, closure and repair pieces fabricated to virtually any dimension.
- Standard finish: stucco-embossed (orange-peel) aluminum cladding — the most common tank-panel face; smooth or alternative jacketing on request.
- Insulation to spec: laminated to the cladding and matched to your operating temperature — polyiso, high-temperature polyiso, rigid mineral wool, or fibreglass.
- Matches existing systems: built to key into the cladding, gauge, embossing and insulation thickness already on the tank.
- Any make: we match systems whose original supplier is gone, slow, or can't ship a non-standard width.
- One-off friendly: single pieces and small repair runs welcome — not just full tank orders.
When You Need a Custom or Replacement Panel
Custom and filler panels solve the problems standard modules cannot:
- Filler and closure pieces — the leftover width at the end of a course, around a manway, or at a stair, ladder or pipe penetration.
- Repair sections — replacing panels damaged by impact, storm, wind-borne debris or service traffic.
- Modifications — new openings, relocated nozzles or added platforms that interrupt the original panel layout.
- Completing an existing job — finishing a tank where the original supplier is gone, slow, or unable to ship a non-standard width.
In each case the requirement is the same: a piece cut to a precise, non-standard width, with a face and an insulation that match what is already on the tank.
Built to Fit Your Existing System
We fabricate to the existing system so the new piece keys in cleanly rather than sitting proud or leaving a gap. Send us the basics and we match them:
| Attribute | What we match / offer |
|---|---|
| Width | Custom — virtually any width, cut to the exact dimension your opening requires |
| Standard finish | Stucco-embossed (orange-peel) aluminum cladding; smooth aluminum or steel jacketing on request |
| Insulation | Laminated to the cladding and specified to your operating temperature — polyisocyanurate, high-temperature polyiso, rigid mineral wool, or fibreglass |
| Insulation thickness | Matched to the existing panel build so faces align |
| Cladding & gauge | Matched to the existing system where specified |
| Application | Filler, closure, repair, modification and penetration trim pieces |
Insulation Core Options
The core in a replacement or filler piece is matched to what is already on the tank — same material class, same thickness, so faces align and thermal performance is continuous. The options:
| Insulation core | Continuous service range | Typical service | Key properties |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closed-cell polyisocyanurate (PIR) | −196 °C to +150 °C (−321 °F to +302 °F) | Cryogenic, LNG, cold and ambient service | Closed-cell — does not absorb moisture; K-value ≈ 0.022–0.027 W/(m·K), stable for decades |
| High-temperature polyiso | −183 °C to +177 °C (−297 °F to +350 °F); intermittent to +190 °C (+375 °F) | Hot service beyond standard PIR's range | ASTM C591-17; 97% closed-cell; Class 1 fire rating (ASTM E84); in Canada, fabricated into tank panels only by MaxFab |
| Rigid mineral wool | Ambient to approximately +650 °C (+1,200 °F) | High-temperature process service | Non-combustible; above ~450 °F the organic binder degrades but the fibre structure and thermal performance remain; K ≈ 0.035–0.045 W/(m·K) |
| Fibreglass | Varies by product specification | Where the client's spec calls for it | Supplied and laminated to spec |
Service ranges are industry-typical figures for each core material class; the rated range for your piece is confirmed against the specific product datasheet at quoting. See choosing the insulation core for the full selection framework.
The Standard Finish: Stucco Embossed (“Orange Peel”)
Our standard face is a stucco-embossed aluminum cladding — the dimpled texture commonly called “orange peel.” It is the most widely used finish on insulated tanks and equipment for good reason: the embossing hides minor handling marks and surface irregularities, diffuses glare, and tolerates thermal movement without telegraphing every ripple. Because it is the industry-standard tank-panel face, an orange-peel filler piece blends into an existing system instead of standing out. Smooth aluminum and steel jacketing are available on request where a job calls for them.
Why Us
Over 40 years of combined fabrication experience — depth no one else in the category brings. It's why we can read a worn seam from a photo, match a finish you can't source anymore, and turn a one-off filler piece around fast. We've fabricated for orphaned systems, completed jobs other suppliers walked away from, and matched panels on tanks built decades ago. Send us the problem; odds are we've solved it before.
How to Order a Custom Piece
Getting a quote is quick. Send us:
- The width and length you need (and quantity).
- The operating temperature and existing insulation thickness.
- The existing cladding type, gauge and finish — a clear photo of the panel face and seam helps.
- A photo of the opening or damage the piece has to fill.
We will confirm the build and quote it — one-off pieces included — and turn small repair runs around quickly. Start a request and we will respond within one business day.
Common Questions
Can you make a tank panel to a non-standard width?
Yes — we fabricate to virtually any width. Custom widths are exactly what filler, closure and repair pieces require, because the gap left in a tank panel system is rarely a standard module. It is whatever dimension remains at a penetration, transition or damaged area.
Can you match panels from another manufacturer's system?
In most cases, yes. With over 40 years of combined experience we've matched panels to systems whose original maker is long gone. Send the existing cladding type and gauge, the embossing pattern, the insulatio
